Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier Review
As you know, the concerns over air quality are increasing day by day, so is the need to be aware of the steps one can take to be more careful. An air purifier is one of the ways by which you can purify the air inside your house.
In this post, I am going to review the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier. It is a 3-in-1 device.
Besides being an air purifier, it also works as a fan and a heater. It cools you in summer and provides heat in winter. The best thing is that the fan is bladeless.
About Dyson

Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Design
Dyson Pure Hot+Cool has an ergonomic bladeless design that blends in with the room interior. You can put your arm through the entire central head.
Positioned below the central head is the LCD, which provides information including the PM 2.5, PM 10, VOC and NO2 levels. Additionally, the LCD also shows the room temperature along with humidity, state of filters, Air Quality Index or AQI and the state of filters and fan levels.
Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Controls
You can control the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool air purifier using:
- Remote Control
- Voice Control (via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant)
- Smartphone-based App Control (via Dyson Link app)
Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Features
There is minimal assembly required in the product out of the box. Only carbon filters need to be installed.
The inner activated carbon filters are for gases, while the outer HEPA filter is built to capture ultrafine particles such as allergens and pollutants. Filters should last around a year, depending on use and level of contaminants in your home.
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool air purifier has Air Multiplier technology and 350° oscillation, to project air around the whole room. You can set the oscillation angles (45, 90, 180 and 350 degrees) using the Dyson remote or the Dyson Link app.
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool air purifier has self-regulating ceramic plates that are hidden within the frame of the ring from which air is pushed out. These plates heat the air as it leaves the machine after going through the purification process.
There is a thermostat control that can direct the machine to turn off the heating plates once the target temperature has been reached, to save energy, and turn them back on when the room temperature falls below that threshold.
The device might not compete with an AC in cooling, but it’s decent enough. The airflow speed can be set from 0 to 10.
The auto mode could be the best option. This monitors pollutants and then changes fan speed automatically to clear a room, and it will adjust the fan speed to hit the right temperature, too. When the air is clean, and the room is at the set temperature, the fan turns off automatically.
If you live in polluted cities like Delhi, then the air purifier would almost always run on the highest airflow speed to clean the air.
The purifier also comes with Night mode feature which sets the airflow speed to 4 and dims the display not to disturb you at night while sleeping.
If you want the purifier turned on, but don’t want a blast of cold or warm air, you can reverse the airflow using Diffused mode and direct it out of the back of the fan instead.
Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Performance
First, let me tell you about the purification performance. I checked the air purification performance on 1st November when the outdoor PM 2.5 level was 628.
The purifier brought the PM 2.5 level down to 44 in less than 1 hour in 120 square feet room. Doors and windows were closed.
The cooling performance of the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool air purifier can be compared to a table fan. It is not as loud as a standard tabletop fan, but it delivers much better air pressure.
In Heat mode fan, speeds are the same; only you get a superb blast of hot air enveloping you. It is better than room heaters in heating performance.
Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Polar Test
While other brands test their air purifiers using CADR(Clean Air Delivery Rate) test, Dyson came up with POLAR tests as the benchmark for its air-purifiers. The POLAR test mimics a real-life environment. It assesses the ability of machines to remove harmful particles and gases, the uniformity of the cleaning performance delivered around the whole room, and airflow projection.
Eight sensors in the corners of the room and one sensor in the centre collect air quality data every 5 seconds, detecting particles of indoor air pollution that are 300 times narrower than a human hair. Analysing the data across all nine sensors lets Dyson engineers ensure the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool air purifier delivers a uniform cleaning performance throughout the whole room.
Verdict
If you are looking for a small air purifier that also works as a fan in the summer and as a heater in the winter, then Dyson Pure Hot+Cool is the only device you need. The bladeless design and unique combination of features and usability make it convenient to use.
