Dream Trip to Berlin in Rs.1 Lakh with Skyscanner

Travelling the world has always been my ambition from childhood.I usually find ways to travel alone.Being a 19 year-old teenager,I have still not got time due to my college studies but that has not deterred my dream of travelling the world.I have made a plan to travel in 20s because then I will be out of college. The one advice I found common in all advices for someone in their 20s always include - "You should travel while you’re young, it’s because the time to see the world is in your 20s."
So when I got a email from BlogAdda that Skyscanner can actually make my dream of travelling the world come true,I couldn't prevent myself from blogging about my dream trip in Rs. 1 lakh.
My dream trip would be to Berlin,Germany since Germany has always fascinated me with their people and language.Besides German is the only foreign language whose basics I have somewhat learnt to talk with a German girl on Facebook :P
Travelling is exciting what makes it nightmare is its planning. While planning you have to check numerous sites for getting the best prices for flights, hotels etc, this makes the travel a gruesome job. Skyscanner has made the job of planning the travel a child's play. Now the only thing you have to know is the time of travel and stay since Skyscanner sorts the best prices for your flights and hotels. They even tell you the best hotels based on their ratings which makes choosing an awesome hotel in value-for-money price a cool task.
Let's start my dream trip with Skyscanner with Rs1 1 lakh credits. So to start my dream trip, the only thing I needed was the time of my travel which I chose to be from 1 Sept,2014 to 5 Sept,2014 and my destination which was Berlin,Germay.
So I went to Skyscanner and just entered my origin, destination and departure and arrival dates and clicked search.(Click on the image to enlarge)
Then Skyscanner found the best price for the return trip from Delhi,India to Berlin Tegel Airport which was Rs 52,632.Seems easy,no ? But what Skyscanner did was finding the best price for the flight from around 20 flight booking websites amongst 169 results.Imagine what mess had it been if I had to open all 20 websites, put in the details, click the search button and then compare the best price out of the lot.
Now the budget left was Rs 100,000 - Rs 52632 = Rs 47638 for hotel booking and car hire. After done with flight booking,Skyscanner automatically showed me whether I would like to book hotels in Berlin.I went to the Skyscanner hotels page and selected the check-in date as 1st Sept,204 and check-out date as 5th Sept,2014.Then I was presented with a list of all 883 available hotels out of total 1209 hotels in Berlin listed in Skyscanner database sorted by popularity.
Since Rs 80,979 was out of the total budget of Rs 1 lakh,I went a little down to the list and found the "Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie" having a rating of 9 out of 10 just for Rs 33,698.For more than half the price, this hotel has a 9 rating compared to the number 1 popular hotel having a rating of 9.4.
Now the only thing left was car hire and the budget left was Rs 47638 - Rs 33698 = Rs 13940.So I went to Skyscanner car hire section, entered all the details and clicked Enter button.
Skyscanner returned the list with the cheapest prices for cars on hire. The best price I got was Rs 12,218.
So the total Skyscanner credits spent were Rs 52,632 for hotel,Rs 33698 for hotel and Rs 12,218 for car hire which totals to Rs 98548,just Rs 1452 short of the given Rs. 1 lakh.
That was all about planning and booking. Now comes the great part of this trip, the travelling.
I would reach the Berlin Tegel airport on 1st Sept,2014 at 18:40.From there,I would take the car on hire at 19:00 for Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie. The actual siteseeing would start from 2nd Sept,2014.
